An excellent turnout at the 2016 Remembrance Concert was a very fitting return to concerts at the club for MD Grenville Moore and many new and returning players. A band with more players than we could have dreamed of just two months ago, when severe problems were threatening its survival, made an impression on audience with Grenville’s bad jokes and the stunning Concerto d’Aranjuez with soloist Charlotte Heaven.
Also featuring in the concert were the Dobcross Brass Monkeys: the club’s thriving adult beginner band. The combined Dobcross Bands joined to play Myfanwy in honour of Silver Band Vice President Pip Hearne who passed away earlier in the month.
With Christmas fast approaching, the Silver Band are now looking forward to the annual St John’s Ambulance Carol Service at Manchester Cathedral on 11th December and the Nine Lessons and Carols service at Dobcross Church and Christmas Concert at the Band Club on 18th December.
