The Silver Band took part in the Red Admiral Entertainment Contest in Chorley yesterday, playing 4 pieces depicting the history of America through the ages…
Starting with the rousing march, “Stars and Stripes Forever” featuring our Soprano Cornet Player Keith Russell, we then slowed things down with the beautiful “Shenandoah” (an American traditional hymn tune). Next up was the turn of our Solo Baritone, Dave Woodward, who played a sublime rendition of “La Belle Americane” and to finish, we played “An American Trilogy” featuring our very own Brent “Elvis” Warren and his cornet section “Memphis” choir!
We would like to send our congratulations to the winning bands and a massive thank you to the organisers of the contest, in particular Stuart Barton of the Red Admiral Music Academy, as once it again it was a fantastic contest.
Although the results didn’t go our way, we did pick up the prize for the “Best Bass Section” for the 2nd year in a row, and the band thoroughly enjoyed taking part in this amazing well ran event!
